The Abbey of Saint-Martin's of Canigou...
The abbey of Saint-Martin-of-Canigou was founded in 1005 by the Count Guifred Cabreta, Count de Conflent and of Cerdagne, with collaboration of his/her young Oliba brother, Abbot of the bédictine Abbey of Saint-Michel-of-Cuxa and promoter of Trève-God in 1027.
November 13, 1009, the Bishop of Elne came to devote the first part of the church. With this occasion, the Count Guifred and all the notable ones of the area made the monks new abbey of the sumptuous gifts, especially out of fertile grounds in plain and in forests in the mountain. The second left the church was devoted in 1026.
